Two comments about money: Apparently the Chancellor has said that MU can give Dr. Kopp a 3% raise. Since this is larger than the average salary increase this year, I would hope that his raise not exceed 2.3 % — or whatever the rest of the employees received. Secondly, I cannot believe the rationale provided in the Parthenon for the President witholding 10% of the budget. Assuming that story was correct, I would like the BOG to ask Dr. Kopp to justify his policy of cutting budgets to see of we can live without the money. What will the reserved money be used for? I can’t belive we are slashing library journals again. Surely there is reason to not cut library holdings when we are aspiring to be more producitve with research and to be a quality doctoral institution. Anyway, we can adjust to a 10% budget cut, but the quality of our programs is what ultimately suffers.
